Fresh new album from Dhani Harrison's band Thenewno2. You may have heard of his dad, George Harrison.

I actually met Dhani when I was working at Interscope and he was a really cool, down to earth dude. I applaud him for trying to make his own path with Thenewno2, this album is a great listen.

Onra- Les Chinoiseries

I love the internet.

Just stumbled upon this fantastically "out-there" album by producer Onra. He made all 32 tracks by sampling old school Vietnamese pop records he bought at flea markets while spending time in the Far East. The exotic samples are layered over late 90's Dilla-esque drums to creative beats that are like none other I have heard.

I just saw young Thomas Barrett open for Faded Paper Figures at a friends and family show in Irvine, and I was blown away by his songwriting. His whisper-like voice is perfect for his "emo-ish" lyrics of lost teenage love and the general confusion of the age.

LA's own Kenan Bell has been tearing up the area party scene lately with his blend of Pharcyde-esque hip hop and energetic indie rock.

Impressive since dude is a middle school teacher. No joke.

Kenan is doing a free monthly residency at Spaceland on Monday nights in October. He has been known to be joined onstage by a rotating cast of characters including the messiah himself, John Frusciante. If that isn't enough to check Kenan out, I don't know what is.
