I have been sleeping on posting about Jay Electronica, but I heard a few more tracks of his this weekend and I just can't contain my enthusiasm any longer. The New Orleans native comes with a style that melds gangsta and backpack, and has some of the hardest hitting beats I have heard in a while.
"Get that type of media coverage Obama get, spit that Kurt Vonnegut, that blow you brain that Kurt Cobain, that Nirvana shit"
"I swam down shit's creek and came up clean, with a new lease on life like Andy Dufrane"

Volta Cab
Hailing from mother Russia, this kid Volta Cab is really getting me through the work day today. Like his fellow countryman Xuman, Valerie-esque dreamwave is what he specializes in.
Check out a few tracks below, apparently his debut EP will be released in May just in time for you to throw the top down in your ride and enjoy the summer night.

Two Door Cinema Club - Tourist History
After loving the Phoenix-ish leading single "Something Good Can Work" all last year, I was eager to hear the new full length from Two Door Cinema Club (or TDCC as music nerds call them). Tourist History is actually a pretty damn solid effort from the Irish trio. Check out a few of the tracks below.
TDCC plays The Troubadour on Cinco de Drinko, grab some tix aqui.

Active Child
Active Child is Pat Grossi, an LA kid who makes lush music that sounds much like the sonic offspring of Bon Iver and M83.
I saw him play last night at Spaceland and was really impressed by his live show. Not only did his falsetto voice sound great, but he managed to play keyboards, guitar and an actual old wooden harp in his 30 minute set.
Be on the lookout for more from Active Child, the place was packed with influential music biz people last night.
