Foals - Total Life Forever

What I like so much about the new Foals album is not just the quality songs, but how different sonically it is from their first album Antidotes.

Who knew these guys could make such beautiful music?

Lo-Fi, Glo-Fi, Newgaze, Shitgaze, Chillwave, Slackerwave, Hypnagogic Pop Mix

Whatever you want to call it, you know what it is.

"They’re solo acts or minimal bands, often with a laptop at their core, and they recall electropop from the 1980s, when synthesizers and rhythm machines sounded dinkier and less flexible. Instead of electropop’s dynamic, future-soul vocals, they have indie-rockers’ diffident voices, which are often made even more remote because they’re veiled in reverb. The songs come across like geek daydreams: half-remembered Top 40 songs and dance hits sung by guys too shy to leave their rooms." - New York Times

Sleigh Bells - Treats

If you haven't heard of Sleigh Bells you have probably been living in a cave for the past few months. I say to you, welcome back!

Sleigh Bells sound like Just Blaze and Santigold jamming out in your garage.

The Twelves - Live In Our Own Backyard

I am amped that Brazil's The Twelves are playing at the infamous V Lounge in Santa Monica this Saturday night. I have had many wild nights up in that place when it was Lush, 20/20 Club and The Space. (Yes, I am old).

The Twelves will be sure to get Westsiders moving with their blend of disco-funk and dancefloor-ready remixes of indie artists like Fever Ray, Black Kids and Two Door Cinema Club.

Also in the house will be our homies from Binary, with Short Circuit performing live.

I think tix are sold out already, but here is more info on the Facebook page. Worse comes to worse you might have to get all Bobby Bottleservice to get in the show, do it bro!

Viper Room Show 5/11

Come out and see some great live music and spend the night with your music industry friends at showlistLA and Ultra Stimulation's showcase night on May 11th at The Viper Room.

Line Up:

Transfer - http://www.myspace.com/transferband
San Diego Music Award winning band, Transfer "creates atmospheric pop that has it's head lost in the clouds." Their excellent debut album Futureselves came out in November on Obscure Magpie Records.

The Hundred Days - http://www.myspace.com/thehundreddays
Drawing from a variety of influences (post punk, alternative, britpop), this San Francisco band hits hard with a sound that has been compared to The Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen and Radiohead.

Satellite Crush -
http://www.myspace.com/satellitecrushmusic
Influenced by the Brit Pop sound of the mid-'90s, the music of Satellite Crush is clean, heartfelt, well produced and a nice departure from the deluge of cooler-than-thou post-punk emanating from LA right now.

DJ Dirty Diaz - http://www.elsergio.com
